NLP Engineer / Data Scientist

Droice engineers are thought leaders in NLP research, applying it to vast repositories of real-world clinical text data. Our products leverage our unique proprietary technology to power critical decisions for patient care.

We’re seeking outstanding engineers to develop NLP products end-to-end using state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure. The technology you build will power products used by doctors every day to improve patient health and tackle the largest challenges in healthcare, including treatment decision support, clinical trial recruitment, population health management, and more.

How You'll Contribute

  • Develop end-to-end NLP systems to derive insights from clinical text
  • Build NLP models, ranging from statistical methods to state-of-the-art deep learning models with internal and external NLP datasets
  • Evaluate and improve the quality of models and algorithms
  • Collaborate with clinical, data science, and production teams to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Stay current with cutting edge research in NLP, with a focus on clinical data applications

What We're Looking For

  • Strong background in natural language processing and machine learning
  • Understanding of NLP techniques for text representation, semantic modeling, databases/data structures, and machine learning and statistical modeling
  • Experience with noisy and/or unstructured textual data
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java and their data science ecosystems; ability to quickly translate ideas into code
  • Strong command over linear algebra, statistics, and machine learning algorithms
  • Understanding of text processing and feature extraction techniques, such as tokenization, POS tagging, and dependency parsing
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Research or industry experience in building machine learning and/or NLP systems
  • Experience with large datasets (billions of data points)
  • Experience with distributed systems/big data tools (e.g., Spark)
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., Tensorflow)
  • Peer-reviewed publications involving NLP or machine learning
  • Experience in a healthcare related field, or with using clinical data
  • Experience working with speech and/or text language data in multiple languages (bonus points for expertise in Russian, Finnish, German, Spanish, or French)
